It’s hard to imagine, but true. In the same amount of time it might take to receive your drivers’ license in the mail or get in to see your dentist, you could find yourself in a new move-in ready home, custom-crafted just for you.
It’s all part of a new program recently launched by Rodrock Homes, where buyers can purchase, customize and move-in to a “Rodrock Ready” home within 45 days or less. Thanks to the new program, home shoppers on a timeline — and even some who aren’t — can find the floor plans and amenities they crave with just the click of a button online at RodrockHomes.com.
Buyers and Realtors can view photos and specs for available homes that are updated weekly by accessing the Rodrock Ready icon on the company’s homepage. Some homes are move-in ready within as little as three weeks.
“Rodrock Ready is just like it sounds,” said Rodrock Homes CEO Brian Rodrock. “These homes are move-in ready for buyers within the timeframes they need and with the amenities they want.” Even buyers who aren’t in a hurry appreciate the convenience and freedom they get from choosing a Rodrock Ready home. “We weren’t necessarily in a hurry to close,” said homeowner Curtis McGeeney, who recently moved into his new reverse 11/2-story home in Leawood’s Wilshire at Leabrooke after just 45 days. “But I liked the fact that the frame was there and you could get a feel for the house, and then still finish it out your own way.”
For many buyers, finishing out a Rodrock Ready home means getting to choose paint, stains, tile, hardwoods, carpeting, lighting and stonework — just as they would if they had begun construction from the ground up. “Most of the hard work is already done and you get to do the fun stuff,” said McGeeney’s wife, Onalisa Winblad, who had fun customizing her home’s interior to suit her tastes.
Both busy medical professionals, McGeeney and Winblad also appreciated Rodrock Home’s streamlined interior design selection process. “With everything you get to choose, you’d think the process would take two months,” Winblad said. “Instead it took about two hours.” The couple’s Realtor, Pam Breakey of the Reece & Nichols Breakey-Fitzpatrick team, agreed that a Rodrock Ready home was the perfect solution for her clients. “They’re a young, career-minded couple who don’t want to spend a lot of time making a bunch of decisions,” Breakey said, “and Rodrock Homes stepped up to make it easy for them.”
Rodrock Ready homes also appeal to buyers like Sheri Foster, who don’t want to hassle with moving twice or purchasing a resale home. “Originally we wanted to build from the ground up, but once we started thinking about renting during construction, things changed,” said Foster, who’s also the mother of two. “Having to move twice with two little kids didn’t sound like a good idea.”
Neither did purchasing resale. Compared to the sparkling new Fairway plan she ultimately purchased, existing homes couldn’t compete. “The level of cleanliness and care in a new house is unmatched,” said Foster, who moved into Olathe’s Prairie Point community just last month. “You can’t beat having new floors that aren’t scratched, walls with fresh paint and cabinets with doors that close like they’re supposed to.”
Rodrock Ready homeowner Jeff Rice also considered resale before purchasing his new two-story in Overland Park’s Wyngate, a community developed by Rodrock Homes. In terms of timeline, quality, and value, his Rodrock Ready home won out.
“We looked at resale houses across the street in Wilshire Farms, but what we saw couldn’t hold a candle to what we could get brand new in Wyngate,” Rice said. Rice and his wife, Shannon, also took advantage of Rodrock Homes’ innovative partnership with Kansas City’s Twigs Interiors to customize their home’s interior. As qualifying clients, the couple received one-on-one design services — including an individualized plan for every room — from Twigs’ experts.
“I never thought the process would be this streamlined or we would get a designer for free,” Rice said. “Even though the walls were already up when we found the house, we got to pick everything, even down to where the outside cable would come in.”
Indeed it’s that freedom to choose, paired with unbeatable timelines and value, that’s turning Rodrock Ready shoppers into Rodrock Ready homeowners.
Right now 25 two-story, 11/2-story, reverse 11/2-story and ranch plan homes spread throughout Overland Park, Olathe, Lenexa and Leawood are listed as Rodrock Ready. Online photos and descriptions reveal showcase-level homes featuring the latest amenities. “We’re seeing a lot of interest in these homes right now,” said Jeff Reglin, Rodrock Homes’ chief marketing officer. “With both new houses and quality resale in shorter supply, we’re filling an in-demand niche. It’s great for buyers who want a home customized to their tastes without the wait.”
With prices ranging from the mid-$400,000s to the $700,000s, homeowners like Winblad say the Rodrock Ready combination of quickness, quality and value can’t be beat. “I’d highly recommend finding your home this way,” Winblad said. “If you can find a builder like Rodrock Homes, doing it this way is best. It gets done quickly and it’s so exciting to see it all come together.”
